VA Study Supports the Need for Solutions That Include the Family Caregiver as a Member of The Health Care Team

Though they provide and estimated $522 billion in free care per year, the research continues to show that family caregivers are largely unrecognized members of the healthcare team. Acknowledging the increasing role that family caregivers play in enhancing patient safety, quality of care and outcomes, the VA health care system’s Campaign for Inclusive Care is working to create a culture focused on closing the family caregiver-provider communication gap by clearly defining the family caregiver’s role and proactively involving them in the military member’s treatment planning and decision-making.

MeU Care uniquely and HIPAA securely enables caregivers to communicate with all members of the health care team, across the care continuum.
